THIS WEEK'S MONEY DECISION
₹1 crore is not one financial plan.
The number may be identical. The work it must do can be completely different.
|
 |
|
THE OPENING NOTE
Money only becomes meaningful when we ask what it is being asked to protect, permit or change.
For one family, ₹1 crore is retirement income. For another, it is a buffer around a volatile business. For a working woman, it may represent financial independence, parental care and the freedom to make a career decision without asking permission. For young parents, it may already have four claimants: a home, school, ageing parents and retirement.
A portfolio can be technically respectable and still be wrong for the life around it. That is why this issue does not begin with a product. It begins with the job.

|
THE LINE TO REMEMBER
A portfolio is a list of assets. A plan is a set of decisions.

SEVEN ROOMS · SEVEN DIFFERENT JOBS
Which room feels most like yours?
|
| 01 |
The property, gold and FD household
The assets feel familiar and safe. The hidden question is whether the family has enough liquidity, diversification and accessible money when life refuses to wait for a property sale.
|
| 02 |
The working woman
Single, married, parenting, caregiving or building a business: ownership, access and decision rights matter alongside returns. A career break, parental responsibility or marriage should not quietly erase long-term independence.
|
| 03 |
The young or migrant professional
A fast-rising CTC can still conceal rent, remittances, ESOP concentration, a first home, parents in another city and very little emergency runway. Income growth is not the same as a financial system.
|
| 04 |
The young parent, teacher or corporate family
School fees are visible. Insurance gaps, one-income vulnerability and the retirement cost of overfunding a single goal are not. The plan has to hold the entire household together.
|
| 05 |
The government employee or pensioner
A stable job or pension is an important foundation—not a complete retirement plan. New joiners, existing employees and retirees still need decisions around NPS or UPS, inflation, healthcare, spouse protection and money outside the pension structure.
|
| 06 |
The retiree or older parent
The real task is not maximising a corpus. It is turning assets into dependable income while protecting health, dignity, the surviving spouse, fraud resilience and the ability to help family without becoming financially dependent.
|
| 07 |
The business owner, founder or next generation
The business may have created most of the wealth—and most of the risk. Promoter guarantees, working capital, succession, a liquidity event and the family’s assets need one coordinated view without confusing business capital with family security.

THREE QUESTIONS FOR SUNDAY MORNING
Before you ask where to invest, ask:
| 1. | What must this money make possible? |
| 2. | What must not go wrong—and when might the money be needed? |
| 3. | Who else depends on the answer? |
|
|
THE CA TWIST
You do not have to choose between your CA and your investment adviser.
Ask us to speak with your CA. With your consent, we will work alongside them. Your CA accounts for the wealth you have built. Together, we can help you plan how to protect, deploy and grow it responsibly.
Tax, accounts, business realities and personal investments affect one another. The professional roles remain distinct; your decisions become better connected.

Wiser about your money than you are.
Provocative? Yes. Because consequential advice should know the questions you have not yet thought to ask.
